?What makes the victory of Palestinian resistance so special
The ramifications of eleven-days destructive war on Gaza and the performance of the Palestinian resistance have showed how the Zionist military power failed in undermining the spirit of Palestinian resistance and have shattered the assumption that military superiority is usually the decisive factor to victory. Even political and military analysts have been stunned at how Palestinian home-made rockets have become a deterrent to the unrestrained Zionist war machine. So, what makes the triumph of Palestinian resistance so special?
A quick rational view of the power balance between the Zionist enemy and the Palestinian resistance will obviously give overwhelming supremacy to the enemy whose military machine and technology outstrip even many developed countries. God, Exalted is He, has made it a customary rule that He always grants His support to the resolute believing power no matter how small its capabilities are when they confront the enemies of God and when they fight for a just cause. God, the Almighty, says: “How many a small group has defeated a large group by God’s will. God is with the steadfast” (al-Baqara, 249).
When there is a will
How come that a geographically small dense area, the home of about two million people, under the siege for fifteen years, build up a military capability that has really hurt the enemy and shattered its arrogant grandeur as the most powerful military in the middle east? Of course, the enemy’s arsenal was able to target residential buildings, media offices, small businesses, infrastructure and other public service buildings. Of course, the enemy had run out of targets from day one of the war, so nothing could stop their greed to kill and massacre civilians in flagrant violation of Geneva conventions, atrocities amounting to war crimes. The Palestinian had already prepared for this confrontation tapping whatever falls in their hand of raw material to make weapons despite the strict siege imposed on Gaza enclave with respect to raw material needed for industry.
Because of the longstanding occupation of Palestine and the Zionists’ long record of human rights violations, ranging from displacements and evictions from homes, ethnic discrimination, apartheid policies, incarcerations, impunity for murder, among other horrors, the Palestine cause has won a worldwide solidarity though the occupation have long tried to mask its atrocities and distort facts through its influential media network and public relations. The support for Palestine this time has not been confined to the Arab and Muslim world, but has extended to people around the world, and the mass marches at the heart of western capital cities are evidence that the world has had enough with the Zionists’ gross and outrageous behavior.
The hostile occupation has lost much of its moral asset, supposing it had some, in the eyes of the world opinion, and the outcome of this confrontation will inevitably have strategic consequences that will change a lot in the future struggle between a resolute and evolving power and a ruthless inhumane occupation.
